Josh & Franny | Chicago Sunset Proposal | Montrose Harbor | Heather Hackney Photography | Chicago Lifestyle Photographers

A few weeks ago Josh contacted me to discuss headshots and images for his consulting business website.  During our conversation he added in that he was planning to ask Franny to come along for his session and wanted to propose to her!  (I might have jumped out of my chair at this point in the conversation because I was so excited to capture something so meaningful).  Josh saw a few images that I had taken of mutual friends at Montrose Harbor and knew that Montrose was the location he wanted to get down on one knee and ask Franny to spend the rest of her life with him.

We planned to meet at sunset, so that the sky and the city could really shine and create a magical backdrop for him to pop the question.  Josh and I exchanged a few very detailed emails to go over the plan and timing to make sure all fell into place exactly as he envisioned.  Finally, the day had arrived and Josh shows up - WITHOUT FRANNY.  My heart stopped when I saw that she wasn't with him.  Luckily for us, she was on a work call and was going to meet us after.  This gave us a little more time to discuss location, take a few test shots and go over the plan a few more times.

I'm pretty sure we were both equally nervous as the minutes got closer and closer to her arrival.  Once she arrived we walked around and took a few images of them as a couple.  We made our way over to the spot that Josh and I discussed would be the location where he would get down on one knee.  I casually snapped a few more images before giving Franny a prompt that I love to give all of my couples - "tell Josh one thing you love about him" and stepped back about 20 feet to give them space and to get ready for the moment that we had planned for all week.   And it was so perfect.  The sky, the sunset, the city.  Everything.
